The Geneva 4001 you see elsewhere may share the model number, but it isn't the same playing experience. We don't ship it straight from the carton: we set it up properly, upgrade the strings, replace the packaged bow and inspect the finished violin before it leaves our shop.

The Geneva Model 4001 Acoustic-Electric Violin is an incredibly striking instrument, available in three bold printed finishes (Blue Fire, Carbon Fiber Look and Skeletons), with onboard volume and passive tone controls for amplified playing.

But the biggest difference between the Geneva 4001 sold by Atelier and the same model you may find elsewhere is what happens before it ever reaches you.

At Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments, every Geneva 4001 receives a thorough professional setup. We adjust the instrument for proper playability, replace the factory strings, and even upgrade the bow supplied with the violin.

The Atelier Setup Makes the Difference

A violin can look beautiful and still be frustrating to play if the setup isn't right. Factory setup alone is often not enough.

Before shipment, we address the critical areas that determine how the instrument feels and responds:

• Professionally fitted and adjusted bridge
• Proper string height
• Nut inspection and adjustment
• Overall playability and setup inspection
• Factory strings replaced with D’Addario Helicore strings
• Final adjustment and evaluation before shipment

That work makes an enormous difference in comfort, response and overall usability.

We Also Replace the Factory Bow

Rather than simply including the bow packaged by Geneva, Atelier replaces it with a significantly more usable:

• Genuine unbleached Mongolian horsehair
• Durable carbon-composite construction
• Better consistency and control than a typical package bow

We also include:

• Dark rosin
• Cleaning cloth
• Lightweight zippered violin case

Acoustic + Electric Versatility

The Geneva 4001 can be played acoustically or connected to an amplifier or sound system using its onboard electronics.

Controls include:

• Volume control
• Passive tone control

No battery needed: the passive electronics are ready whenever you plug in.

That makes it a particularly fun choice for players interested in amplified performance, contemporary styles, effects pedals, recording, worship groups, ensembles or simply owning something dramatically different from a traditional violin.

Choose Your Finish

All three finishes are the same Geneva 4001, printed over a laminated body with a spruce top, maple back and sides, and a maple neck. Each one receives the same Atelier setup, Helicore strings, upgraded bow and complete outfit.

• Blue Fire: a vivid blue-and-orange fractal flame print across the body, with a matching marbled scroll.
• Carbon Fiber Look: a dark woven carbon-fiber pattern printed on the body, set against a natural maple neck. This is a printed finish; the violin is not made of carbon fiber.
• Skeletons: an all-over black-and-white skull print on the body, back and pegbox, paired with black fittings.

Geneva 4001 or Geneva Electric?

• Geneva 4001 (this violin, $449.90): a full hollow acoustic body you can play unplugged like any violin, then plug in for the stage. Strung with D’Addario Helicore.
• Geneva Electric ($349.99): an open-frame body built for quiet headphone practice and amplified playing. Strung with D’Addario Prelude.
