Questions buyers ask before they choose
Shaped or oblong: which case should I choose?
Shaped cases follow the outline of the instrument, so they are lighter and more compact. Oblong cases are a little heavier but usually add room for extra bows, rosin, a shoulder rest and other accessories.
What size case do I need?
Choose the case that matches the instrument's size. Violins and cellos use fractional sizes, violas are measured by body length in inches, and double basses use fractions. Our sizing guide explains each one, and a string specialist can confirm the fit.
Hard case or soft bag for a cello or bass?
Hard cases give the most protection for school buses, car trunks and travel. Padded soft bags are lighter and easier to carry for local trips, lessons and gigs.
