Intermediate cellos, set up to play the day they arrive

Each listing describes the voice and the wood it comes from: the Milano 400 is fully hand-carved from select spruce and figured maple for depth and projection; the Yamaha AVC7 pairs a solid spruce top with solid maple for a balanced, predictable response across all four strings; the Revelle 650NS uses aged European spruce and maple for a warm, projecting sound with quick response.

Every one is play-tested by our luthiers before it ships, and the 7-day return window gives you time to play it at home and with your teacher before you decide.

Most of what a cellist feels under the hand comes from the setup, not the label. Before shipping, our luthiers fit the bridge and soundpost, set string height, and adjust the nut, fingerboard and pegs so the cello plays cleanly from first position up into thumb position and holds its tuning.

Size matters as much as setup: the Milano 400 comes in 3/4 and 4/4, while the Yamaha and Revelle are 4/4 only. If you are between sizes, use our sizing guide before you order.

Your cello is packed by our workshop with particular care for the bridge and setup, and the shipment is fully insured. Cello shipping is a flat $79.95 to the continental United States; in-stock cellos typically ship within 3 business days, after setup.

Unpack and check the cello the day it arrives, and keep the box and all packing. If anything was damaged in shipping, contact us right away, the same day if you can, with photos of the cello, the box and the packing. Please don't tune it up or try to fix anything yourself; we take it from there, including the insurance claim.

If you find a defect, or we sent the wrong item, let us know as soon as you notice, and always within your 7-day window. When the issue is our responsibility, we repair, replace or exchange the cello and cover shipping both ways.

Because these cellos are priced above $3,000, they have a 7-day return window from delivery. Return the cello in like-new condition with everything it came with, and we refund the purchase price less our actual outbound shipping cost and the return label, if we provide one.

Setup changes made elsewhere, such as bridge, soundpost or peg work, make a cello ineligible unless we approved them in advance. If you ordered the wrong size or model, contact us within the same 7 days and we can exchange it, as long as it is in new, unused condition. Full terms are on our Returns page.

The Canzona Milano 400 outfit includes a graphite composite bow and an embroidered Canzona 10mm padded bag. The Yamaha AVC7-44SG outfit includes a Brazilwood bow and a padded soft case. The Revelle 650NS is sold as the cello alone, so choose a cello bow and case to go with it.

The Milano 400 can be ordered with D’Addario Prelude strings or upgraded D’Addario Helicore strings at the same price. Shop Pay Installments are available at checkout for eligible orders, so you can spread the cost over monthly payments.
