The D’Addario Spector Violin Mute provides a quick, convenient way to soften your violin’s volume for rehearsals, quieter practice, chamber performances, or music requiring a muted passage.
Originally designed by Fred Spector, a 45-year veteran violinist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, this compact mute rests securely between the A and D strings. To engage it, simply slide the mute upward onto the bridge. When it is no longer needed, slide it back down, where it remains safely on the instrument without interfering with normal playing or tone.
Features
- Instantly softens and reduces violin volume
- Slides easily onto and off the bridge
- Remains attached to the instrument when not in use
- Does not interfere with normal playing or sound
- Designed for full-size 4/4 violins
- Made in the USA at D’Addario’s New York production facility
