Welcome to Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments, Inc. ("Atelier," "we," "us," "our"). By renting an instrument from us, you ("Customer") agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms govern all rental agreements and outline the responsibilities and rights of both the Customer and Atelier.
Rental Fees & Plan
- Fractional instruments are rented for 10 months, with 2 months free.
- Full-sized instruments (7/8 and 4/4) are available for a 12-month term only.
Fractional Sizes
Monthly Rental Fees:
- Violin: $24.00
- Viola: $30.00
- Cello: $40.00
- Double Bass: $60.00
Note: Plus applicable taxes and optional DT Insurance.
Full-Sized Instruments
Monthly Rental Fees:
- Violin: $35.00
- Viola: $40.00 (depending on size)
- Cello: $75.00
- Double Bass: $75.00
Note: Plus applicable taxes and optional DT Insurance.
General Rental Terms
Quality Assurance
- All instruments are high-quality, European-made, either new or like new.
- Instruments are professionally set up and rented as complete outfits, including a bow, case, and rosin.
Payment and Refunds
- Full payment is due in advance for the entire rental period.
- No refunds are provided for early returns.
Automatic Renewal
Rental fees for an additional period are automatically charged if the instrument is not returned by the due date.
Purchase Option
- Customers may purchase the rented instrument at any time.
- Rental fees (less taxes and DT Insurance) apply toward the purchase price.
- Applicable rental credit periods:
- Violin & Viola: First 24 consecutive months
- Cello: First 12 consecutive months
- Double Bass: First 6 consecutive months
- A 10% discount applies if purchased and paid in full within the first 6 months.
- Each rented instrument is a separate account. Credits cannot be combined.
Exchange Option
Instruments may be exchanged or traded for the next size or quality level at any time. A nominal restocking fee applies.
Damage and Theft Insurance (DT Insurance)
Atelier offers optional Damage & Theft (DT) Coverage for rental instruments.
What Is Covered
- Pegs
- Chinrest
- Instrument body (including scroll and neck)
- Nut and saddle
- Tailpiece
- Bridge
- Instrument case
- Bow
Repairs or replacements are covered when damage results from accidental impact or appropriate use.
What Is Not Covered
- Strings
- Lost instruments
- Theft without forced entry or due to negligence
- Etching, carving, writing, or defacing the instrument or case
Note: Any instrument that has been etched or defaced is not covered under DT and must be purchased at full listed price minus applicable rental credit.
Atelier will provide a one-time replacement with an instrument of equal value.
Delinquent Accounts
If an account becomes delinquent, DT Coverage is immediately suspended.
Coverage Termination
Atelier reserves the right to terminate DT Coverage or the rental contract following any claim or if the instrument is improperly cared for. No refunds or prorated credits will be issued.
Customer Responsibilities
Instrument Care
- Customers must follow provided care instructions.
- All repairs and maintenance must be performed by Atelier.
Legal and Financial Obligations
- Customers may not sell or dispose of rented instruments.
- Customers are responsible for legal fees related to collection or restitution.
