Pirastro Passione Violin E String – Silvery Steel

The Pirastro Passione Violin E String is made from silvery steel and designed to complement the warm, expressive character of the Passione string set. It delivers a powerful, focused tone with an immediate response and excellent clarity across the instrument’s upper register.

Available in three gauges and with either a ball or loop end, this E string allows violinists to fine-tune the response, brilliance and resistance of their instrument.

Choosing an E-String Gauge

String gauge can noticeably affect the feel and sound of your violin.

A thicker E string generally provides greater resistance, increased tension and a fuller, more powerful sound. A thinner E string typically offers a brighter tone and a lighter response without necessarily sacrificing projection.

For some instruments, moving to a slightly thicker E string may also help reduce whistling or squeaking when crossing onto the open E.
