The Pirastro Passione Violin A String combines the warmth and tonal complexity of a traditional gut core with improved stability and a notably shorter playing-in period.

Its sheep-gut core is manufactured, wound and polished by hand, then finished with an aluminum winding. The result is a full, rounded sound with clarity, brilliance and strong projection. Passione strings respond easily throughout the dynamic range, allowing the player to move naturally from gentle, intimate passages to a large and powerful tone.

Choosing a Gauge

The Passione A string is offered in five gauges, allowing players to adjust the tension, response and tonal character to suit their violin.

A thicker gauge generally provides higher tension and a fuller, more powerful sound. A thinner gauge typically offers a brighter character and a lighter response without necessarily reducing projection.

The 13½ gauge is the medium option included in the standard Passione violin set.
