The Andreas Eastman VA305 Stradivari Viola is a handcrafted intermediate instrument recognized for its strong tonal character, responsive feel, and distinctive antiqued appearance. Designed for advancing students and experienced recreational musicians, the VA305 offers the projection, clarity, and tonal complexity needed as a player progresses beyond an entry-level viola.
Each VA305 is constructed from a carefully selected carved spruce top with a carved maple back, ribs, and scroll. The figured maple and shaded spirit varnish give the instrument a warm, traditionally aged appearance, while genuine hand-inlaid purfling reflects Eastman’s attention to classical violin-making details.
Built on a traditional Stradivari pattern, the VA305 delivers a clear, focused voice with warmth across the lower register and the projection required for orchestral, chamber, solo, and audition settings. Its responsive character allows the instrument to speak readily under the bow, helping advancing players develop greater control of articulation, dynamics, and tonal color.
The VA305 comes strung with Thomastik-Infeld Vision Solo viola strings, selected for their quick response, focused projection, tonal clarity, and dynamic range. These premium strings complement the VA305’s naturally warm voice while helping the instrument respond cleanly and confidently across all registers.
Available in sizes from 12 inches through 17 inches, the VA305 provides developing violists with access to the same respected model across a broad range of instrument sizes.

Finding the Correct Viola Size
The correct viola size depends on the player’s arm length, hand size, physical build, and overall comfort. Viola sizing is less standardized than violin sizing, so an instrument should not be selected by age alone.
A properly sized viola should allow the player to reach comfortably, maintain a relaxed left-hand position, and support the instrument without unnecessary strain. Atelier’s string specialists are available to help determine the most appropriate size before purchase.
Prepared by Atelier
Every Eastman viola purchased from Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments is individually inspected and professionally adjusted before shipment. Our string specialists examine the bridge, soundpost, pegs, strings, and overall playability to ensure the instrument is properly prepared before it leaves our shop.
Atelier serves musicians, families, educators, and schools throughout the United States. Each instrument is carefully packed, fully insured during transit, and supported by knowledgeable assistance from a dedicated string-instrument shop.
