The Canzona Sonata Model 200 Bass is designed for students who are ready for improved tone and responsiveness while still needing the durability required for school use. Featuring a solid spruce top paired with a laminated maple back, the Sonata 200 offers greater resonance and clarity than fully laminated instruments, making it an excellent choice for advancing students and school programs seeking better sound without sacrificing reliability.

The solid spruce top allows the instrument to respond more freely under the bow, while the laminated maple back adds strength and stability against temperature and humidity changes. Both the front and back plates are hand-graduated to replicate the tonal response of a fully carved instrument, providing a warmer, more projecting sound than typical hybrid basses in this category.

Outfitted with an ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, the Sonata 200 includes two-piece plate-style brass machine heads for smooth, dependable tuning, along with an 18.5" steel rod endpin with a graphite composite plug for long-term durability. Inlaid purfling on the front and back adds a traditional visual detail and reinforces structural integrity.

Each bass is set up with D’Addario Prelude strings, selected for their stability, longevity, and student-friendly feel. A durable spirit varnish protects the instrument while maintaining an attractive, classic appearance suitable for both classroom and performance settings.

The complete outfit includes a French or German–style graphite composite bow and an embroidered, padded bass bag, ensuring the instrument arrives ready to play.

As with all Canzona instruments, every Sonata Model 200 Bass is professionally inspected and adjusted by Atelier technicians before leaving the shop, ensuring proper setup, comfortable string height, and consistent performance.
