Factory assembly is only the beginning. Even two violins of the same brand and model can feel and sound remarkably different depending on how they have been prepared.
Bridge fit, string height, nut adjustment, peg function, soundpost placement and string selection all influence the instrument's comfort, response, tone and tuning stability.
A poorly prepared violin can be unnecessarily difficult to tune, uncomfortable under the fingers and frustrating to play. For a beginning student, those problems can easily be mistaken for a lack of ability.

What Atelier Violin Setup Includes
Every instrument is evaluated individually. The exact work performed depends on the violin and what it requires.
Bridge Inspection & Adjustment
We inspect the bridge for proper fit, position, curvature and string spacing. The bridge is adjusted or replaced to improve playability and ensure it functions correctly.
Nut & String-Height Evaluation
The nut grooves and overall string height are checked for comfortable fingering and clean response. Excessively high strings can make a violin tiring and discouraging to play.
Peg & Tuning Inspection
The pegs are checked for proper fit and smooth operation. A violin should hold its tuning without requiring the player to fight slipping, sticking or poorly fitted pegs.
Soundpost Evaluation
The soundpost is inspected for fit and position. Its placement can significantly affect balance, response and tonal character—it's essential to the instrument's performance.
Fingerboard & Fittings Inspection
We examine the fingerboard, tailpiece, fine tuners, chinrest and related fittings to ensure they are secure and functioning as intended.
String Evaluation & Final Tuning
Strings are inspected for quality and suitability. We may upgrade or replace strings to produce a more responsive, balanced and dependable result. Final play-test ensures readiness.

A beginning violinist is already learning how to hold the instrument, use the bow, place the fingers and recognize correct pitch. The violin should support that process—not make it harder.
