Rental Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments, Inc. ("Atelier," "we," "us," "our"). By renting an instrument from us, you ("Customer") agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms govern all rental agreements and outline the responsibilities and rights of both the Customer and Atelier.

Rental Fees & Plan
​Fractional instruments are rented for 10 months, and two months are free.
Full-sized instruments 7/8 and 4/4 are only available for a 12-month term.

Violin: $24.00

Note: Plus applicable taxes and optional DT Insurance.

Viola: $40.00 (depending on size)

General Rental Terms
-
Quality Assurance:
-
All instruments are high-quality, European-made, either new or like new.

Instruments are professionally set up in our workshop and rented as complete outfits, including a bow, case, and rosin.

Payment and Refunds:
-
Full payment is due in advance for the entire rental period.
-
No refunds are provided for early returns before the contract expiration.

Automatic Renewal:
-
Fees for an additional rental period are automatically charged if the instrument is not returned by the due date.

Purchase Option:
-
Customers may purchase the rented instrument at any time.
-
Rental fees (less taxes and DT) apply toward the purchase price.

The applicable period for the rental fees to be credited towards the purchase price varies by instrument type:

Violin and Viola: The first 24 consecutive months are applicable.

Cello: The first 12 consecutive months are applicable.
-
Double Bass: The first 6 consecutive months are applicable.

A 10% discount is available on the unpaid balance if the instrument is purchased and paid for within the first 6 months.

Note: Each rented instrument is considered a separate account. Rental credit from one instrument cannot be combined with credit from another toward a purchase.

Exchange Option:

Instruments can be exchanged or traded for the next size or quality level at any time. A nominal restocking fee will apply.

Damage and Theft Insurance (DT Insurance)
Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments offers optional Damage & Theft (DT) Coverage for rental instruments. Please read the terms of this policy carefully.
- What Is Covered -DT Coverage protects against accidental damage to the following components:

Pegs
-
Chinrest
-
Body of the instrument (including the scroll and neck)
-
Nut and saddle
-
Tailpiece
-
Bridge
-
Instrument case
-
Repairs or replacement of these parts are covered when the damage results from accidental impact or appropriate use

Bow
-
What Is Not Covered
-
-
Strings
-
Lost instruments
-
Theft without forced entry or resulting from negligence (e.g., left unattended in a public space)
-
Etching, carving, writing on, or defacing any part of the instrument or case
-
Note: Any instrument that has been etched or defaced will not be covered under DT. In such cases, the customer will be required to purchase the instrument at its listed price, minus any applicable rental credit.

Atelier will provide a one-time replacement with an instrument of equal value.

Delinquent Accounts

If your rental account becomes delinquent at any time, DT Coverage is immediately suspended and no longer in effect.

Coverage Termination

Atelier reserves the right to terminate DT Coverage or the rental contract at its discretion:

Following any claim
-
If, upon inspection, the instrument is found to be improperly cared for or mishandled
-
No refunds or prorated credits will be issued if coverage or the rental agreement is terminated under these conditions.

Customer Responsibilities

Instrument Care:
-
Customers must follow the care instructions provided and maintain the instrument in good condition.

Repairs, maintenance, and adjustments must be performed by Atelier only.

Legal and Financial Obligations:
-
Customers agree not to sell, mortgage, or dispose of the rented instrument.

Customers are liable for legal fees associated with the restitution of merchandise or the collection of past-due payments.
