Terms and Conditions for Instrument Rentals
Welcome to Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments, Inc. ("Atelier," "we," "us," "our"). By renting an instrument from us, you ("Customer") agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms govern all rental agreements and outline the responsibilities and rights of both the Customer and Atelier.

Rental Fees & Plan
​Fractional instruments are rented for 10 months, and two months are free.
Full-sized instruments 7/8 and 4/4 are only available for a 12-month term.

Monthly Rental Fees:

Violin: $20.00

Viola: $25.00

Cello: $35.00

Double Bass: $60.00
-
Note: Plus applicable taxes and optional DT Insurance.

Violin: $30.00
-
Viola: $35.00/$40.00 (depending on size)

Cello: $50.00

Double Bass: $75.00

General Rental Terms
-
Quality Assurance:
-
All instruments are high-quality, European-made, either new or like new.

Instruments are professionally set up in our workshop and rented as complete outfits, including a bow, case, and rosin.

Payment and Refunds:
-
Full payment is due in advance for the entire rental period.

No refunds are provided for early returns before the contract expiration.

Automatic Renewal:
-
Fees for an additional rental period are automatically charged if the instrument is not returned by the due date.

Purchase Option:
-
Customers may purchase the rented instrument at any time.
-
Rental fees (less taxes and DT) apply toward the purchase price.

The applicable period for the rental fees to be credited towards the purchase price varies by instrument type:

Violin and Viola: The first 24 consecutive months are applicable.

Cello: The first 12 consecutive months are applicable.
-
Double Bass: The first 6 consecutive months are applicable.

A 10% discount is available on the unpaid balance if the instrument is purchased and paid for within the first 6 months.

Exchange Option:
-
Instruments can be exchanged or traded for the next size or quality level at any time. A nominal restocking fee will apply.

Damage and Theft Insurance (DT Insurance)

Coverage:
-
Atelier will repair or replace the instrument in case of loss through theft, fire, or accidental damage, provided optional DT Insurance has been purchased.

Claims for theft, fire, or major accidents must be supported by a police or school report and reported within 10 days of the occurrence.

Exclusions:
-
Negligence, willful damage, lost instruments, and damage to bows, cases, bridges, and accessories are not covered.

The Customer is responsible for regular maintenance, including string replacement and bow rehairing.

Customer Responsibilities

Instrument Care:
-
Customers must follow the care instructions provided and maintain the instrument in good condition.

Repairs, maintenance, and adjustments must be performed by Atelier only.

Legal and Financial Obligations:
-
Customers agree not to sell, mortgage, or dispose of the rented instrument.
-
Customers are liable for legal fees associated with the restitution of merchandise or collection of past-due payments.
