Billing Terms and Conditions

1. Payment Terms

1.1 All prices are listed in US Dollars unless otherwise specified.

1.2 Payment is required at the time of purchase for instruments, bows, accessories, and services.

1.3 For custom orders and repairs, a 50% deposit may be required before work begins, with the remaining balance due upon completion.

1.4 Accepted payment methods include:

  • Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)

  • Checks (in-store payments only, subject to clearance)

  • Cash (in-store payments only)

  • Online payments through our secure portal at www.atelierfinestrings.com

2. Pricing

2.1 All prices are subject to change without notice.

2.2 Quotes for repairs, custom work, and appraisals are valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.

2.3 Sales tax will be applied according to applicable state and local regulations.

3. Instrument Purchases and Returns

3.1 Condition Requirements:

  • All instruments, bows, and cases must be returned in new condition, with no signs of usage, damage, or wear (e.g., dings, dents, scratches, or dirt).

3.2 Return Components:

  • The full outfit, including the instrument, bow, case, and rosin, must be returned. Missing or damaged components will incur additional charges.

3.3 Return Locations:

  • Instruments must be returned to the original location of purchase:

    • Cos Cob/Greenwich: 403 East Putnam Avenue, Cos Cob, CT 06807

    • Norwalk: 20 Fitch Street, Norwalk, CT 06855

4. Accessories

4.1 Accessory Returns:

  • Condition: Accessories must be unused and in their original condition to qualify for a return.

  • Packaging: Accessories must be returned with their original packaging.

  • Refund Eligibility: Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase.

4.2 Refund Process:

  • To initiate a refund, contact us at atelierstringshop@gmail.com or visit the location where the accessory was purchased.

  • Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7-10 business days after the return is received.

5. Repairs and Appraisals

5.1 Repair Services:

  • Repair costs must be paid in full upon completion.

  • A deposit may be required for extensive repairs. Final costs depend on labor and materials needed to restore the instrument to optimal playing condition.

5.2 Appraisals:

  • Written Appraisals: Cost $275.00 and include a detailed evaluation of the instrument’s condition, provenance, and market value, along with official documentation.

  • Verbal Appraisals: Cost $100.00 and provide a professional assessment of the instrument’s condition and value. This fee reflects the time, expertise, and care involved in evaluating each instrument.

6. Refunds and Exchanges

6.1 Instrument and Bow Purchases:

  • Purchased instruments and bows are not refundable.

  • Customers may exchange instruments or bows for 100% of their purchase price toward the next size or quality level, provided the item is returned in very good condition.

6.2 Accessories:

  • Refunds are available for unused accessories returned in their original condition and packaging within 30 days of purchase.

6.3 Completed Services:

  • Repairs and appraisals are non-refundable once the service is completed.

7. Shipping and Handling

7.1 Shipping and handling charges are additional unless otherwise specified.

7.2 Risk of loss transfers to the customer upon shipment. Atelier is not responsible for lost or damaged items after they leave our facility.

7.3 Customers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.

7.4 In stock orders received by 3:00EST will typically ship same day.  Larger items may take up to 3 days for packing and shipping.  You will be notified via email if there is a delay.  Shipments are made via USPS or FedEx Ground Delivery Services - Monday thru Friday.  

8. Privacy and Security

8.1 Customer payment information is processed securely through approved payment processors.

8.2 Financial information is not stored on our servers.

8.3 Customer information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on our website.

9. Modifications to Terms

9.1 Atelier reserves the right to modify these Billing Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

9.2 Updated terms will be posted on our website at www.atelierfinestrings.com.

10. Disputes and Chargebacks

10.1 If you have a billing dispute, please contact us immediately at 203.661.9500 and ask for “billing.” We will work to resolve the issue promptly.

10.2 Unauthorized chargebacks may result in suspension of services and additional fees.
